There are many delights within the town including an old market place with a lovely Buttercross which is floodlit at night. Around and in the Market Place you can find the old Town Hall, arms houses, the old courthouse which is now The Somerset Guild of Craftsmen, Courthouse Gallery.
Somerton has many wonderful churches which can date back to the 15th Century.
After spending the morning taking in some of what Somerton has to offer,
why not take a break for morning coffee at one of our tearooms or
public houses. You could then spend the rest of your morning browsing
some of our specialist shops like our antique centre and the London
Cigarette Card Co which has the largest display, over 4,500 sets, of
collector cards in Britain.. For lunch you have a wide variety of
country pubs and cafes.
There are many walks for all abilities which take you in and around Somerton. It also has the wonderful Viaduct Fishery specialising in course fishing with six well stocked lakes. Regular competitions with a beautiful and peaceful vista in which to relax in the heart of the Cary Valley.
Not forgetting the children, they have a play area, skate park, floodlit
tennis courts, basketball courts and rugby and football pitches.
Somerton also has many events happening all year round outdoors and in any of our wonderful function rooms, including an annual week long Arts festival held in July.
The town has also various places to stay so why not take a look at one of our many B&B's.
Somerton has a lot to offer and is a Town that should definitely be on your itinerary when visiting the West Country. The free car parks are an added bonus. With easy access to the M5 and A303 and bus routes from the surrounding large towns such as Bristol and Bath make Somerton easy to reach. We are sure you will enjoy the visit.
